Styling Tips I’ve Learned From Living in France & UK

10 Things I’ve Learned About My Own Style and Fashion

All of these tips I’ve learned are my own personal experience and are in no way to tell you how to dress. These are things that have worked for me.

  1. Personal Style is Key: When you’re comfortable and excited about the clothes, it’ll shine through regardless of what you’re wearing. As long as you’re happy with your style, who cares?

  2. Sustainably Made Clothes Will Last Longer: I’ll get more into this on my next blog post, but when you buy clothes made from natural materials, they will age better than polyester.

  3. Online Isn’t Always Practical/Real: Just because every blogger is wearing a style or an item doesn’t mean that it’s what people are actually wearing. Taking into consideration your lifestyle and where you are in the world will give you a better idea of clothes that better fit your lifestyle. Besides, most of the times, bloggers are taking the photo then changing or going.

  4. Neutrals Will Always Be On Trend: While Pantone colors come and go each year and season, a classic white blouse or black/navy trousers will always be in season and will never go out of style. More neutrals will also mean more will match within your own wardrobe.

  5. Modest Clothing Will Get You Into More Places: This is purely from my own personal experience, but you don’t always have to dress more revealing to get more heads turned your way. Gaining the right attention can open more doors than expected and dressing modestly will also allow you into more places physically (especially when you’re traveling).

  6. Don’t Be Afraid to Experiment: Life is about taking risks and expressing yourself, whether it’s trying different colors, more dramatic sleeves or a whole new style, it’s important to try new things with fashion.

  7. Shopping Secondhand is a Great Way to Find Personal Items That Become Staples: While secondhand shopping has become more trendy, especially through the pandemic, there can still be a stigma associated with it. Some of my favorite pieces are ones I’ve found in charity shops. It’s also a great way to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank.

  8. Trousers, Trousers, Trousers!: Jean styles may come and go, but a good pair of trousers will last you forever. Trousers are definitely my go to after quarantine since they’re typically looser than jeans.

  9. Inspiration Is Key: Gaining inspiration from other bloggers and places in the world can make your wardrobe more unique. By picking items from different places and seeing all the ways one specific piece can be styles, you can narrow down your personal style and give you inspiration when it comes to fashion. Because when you're inspired, you create and serve more gorgeous looks.
